An amazing experience, to take over the half created assets of a production team in INDIA, win the work back to a US studio, and help build a team of 15+ 3D Artists.. OH, and work 80 hour weeks for 3 months to meet the impossible make or break deadline the studio's future depended on. No seriosly, it was like the most fun I've ever had in my life.. and I stand behind the results.. no matter waht teh crittics say about teh show!!

After the core assets were under control and in use, each new episode called for a large scale set, usually for an animated race scquence. This posed a challenge and introduced tight time frames. Shout out to the amazing texure painter Megan Crisp, without whom these large scale sets never would have been accomplished. But she was there, and they were done so amazingly!!

Models from the race school. One of my favorite things about SPEED RACER THE NEXT GENERATION was the deep storyline.. This wasn't spong bob flipping hamburgers, ( I love those cartoons too), this was a deep, episodic story, worth watching if you ever want to experience greatness.. The key to any success we had in bringing this story to life, from an technical art standpoint was batch rendering on all the unused computers at night, Help from Currious Pictures, NYC. when we ran out of those, and a very specific render pipeline, stolen from real-time games, and layered compositing. All of which I am proud of putting in place.
